Last week I was invited to be the guest speaker at my local towns Rotary meeting. This is the first time for me to do anything like this. It all started when we moved into our new house. I met one of my new neighbors, Howard. He was a very successful business man and town major back in his younger years. Right after WWII he even raced and built race cars when stock car racing began. He was all into my racing background and loved to hear about my career. Long story short, he is part of our local Rotary Club. He got me all scheduled in to be a speaker. Our club has around 30 members and most had never even seen an RC car. I set up a small display with a few different cars, some trophies, some pictures, even a set of tires, diff, and an engine. The presentation actually went pretty good and I was able to keep their attention for about 45 minutes. Everyone seemed to enjoy hearing about it, and the interest led to going into the news paper. Pretty cool to be able to share to my community about how great RC racing is.
After my presentation, there has been even more interest in the RC racing. Another Rotary Club in a college town in Missouri wants me to do a presentation there. Their Rotary Club has around 150 members so the exposure for the industry should be great. I’ve always hated sharing to others about my career, because nobody really understands it. It’s nice to get out of your comfort zone sometimes and try something new. Hopefully it can help our RC scene grow. Share the good news, RC cars are AWESOME!!!!!
Thanks for reading, and God Bless
Very cool Jared!
