It’s 5:40am and I’m at the MCI airport in KC. Heading to Chico, CA for the 1/10 Nats. The morning was interesting. I was up late packing as usual and then woke up to a screaming phone at 3:30am. Normally I would be a zombie, but there was some very intense lightning, thunder, and rain going on outside. That got the adrenaline pumping as I saw the huge flashes and heard the amazingly loud cracks, but all I thought was that it was the beginning of a terribly long travel day. We rushed to get my daughter Rosalynn up and then pulled the truck into the garage to try to not get soaked. As we were leaving the house, I was feeling pretty bummed. “Really God, I’m soooooooooooo excited for this race, and your going to start me out like this. My bags are going to be soaked, my cloths will be wet, my plane will be delayed and Joe will have to wait for me in CA.” Halfway to the airport the rain stopped and it was looking a little better. I’m so quick to think too far ahead and worry. Now I sit at the airport, all checked in and getting ready to board. I’ll check back in in CA.
